Looking East
Shots from 2012 onwards, taken in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Using vintage cameras and expired film, I sought to capture the depth and texture of the urban environment, while also highlighting the natural beauty that exists in the bustling cities. After each trip, I rarely developed my rolls of film, instead, I stored them away in a drawer, until recently when I began the slow process of sorting and developing a large backlog of memories captured on emulsion, some of which have deteriorated in surprising but aesthetically pleasing ways, adding a layer of nostalgia to my images.
This is an ongoing project.
