Two Muses
This shoot, staged in an empty Docklands penthouse in 2005, was meticulously planned to evoke the stark, atmospheric aesthetic of silent cinema. Inspired by the haunting visuals and character of Metropolis and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, I invited two friends - performers I had previously photographed onstage - to collaborate. Our shared history fostered a sense of trust and ease that allowed for deeper creative exploration.
I envisioned these portraits as intimate peepholes into their personae - provocative, humorous, ambiguous, and fearless. At the heart of this work lies a celebration of personal connection, identity and vulnerability, underscoring the power of relationships and the intimacy they bring to artistic expression.
