Two Muses
This shoot, staged in an empty Docklands penthouse, was meticulously planned to evoke the stark, atmospheric aesthetic of silent cinema. Inspired by the haunting visuals and characters of Metropolis and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, I invited two friends - performers I had previously photographed on stage - to collaborate. Our shared history fostered a sense of trust and ease that allowed for deeper creative exploration.
I envisioned these portraits as intimate peepholes into their personae - provocative, humorous, ambiguous, and fearless. At the heart of this work lies a celebration of personal connection and vulnerability, underscoring the power of relationships and the intimacy they bring to artistic expression.
Models/Muses:
The Hypnotist: Xavior Roide is a composer, producer, musician and artist.
The Somnambulist: Lawrence Gullo is an artist, performer and playwright.
